The 976th episode and 8th episode of Saturday Night Live's 50th season premiered on December 7, 2024, hosted by Irish actor Paul Mescal, star of the hit 2024 epic historical action film Gladiator II, a sequel to Gladiator, as well as the hit films The Lost Daughter, God's Creatures, Aftersun, All of Us Strangers, Foe, The History of Sound, Hamnet and Merrily We Roll Along, with musical guest Shaboozey, a musician, rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. This was Paul Mescal's hosting debut, as well as the musical guest debut for Shaboozey on SNL.

The goodnights speech for Paul Mescal is "Thanks to Shaboozey, Dana Carvey, David Spade, Trisha Paytas, Thank You to Lorne Michaels, SNL, Thank You, So Much". (Cheers and applause)
