The 7th episode of Season 41 and the 794th episode of Saturday Night Live premiered on December 5, 2015, hosted by Canadian actor Ryan Gosling, star of the hit films The Believer, The Notebook, Half Nelson, Fracture, All Good Things, The Nice Guys, Lars and the Real Girl, Blue Valentine, Drive, Crazy, Stupid, Love, Only God Forgives, The Ides of March, The Big Short, La La Land, Blade Runner 2049, First Man, Barbie, Song to Song, and The Fall Guy, with musical guest Leon Bridges, who performs "Smooth Sailin" and "River". This was Ryan Gosling’s SNL (and hosting) debut and Leon Bridges’ musical guest debut was made on SNL.
Former longtime cast member Mike Myers makes a cameo in the opening monologue.
Ryan Gosling's goodnights speech is "Thanks to Leon Bridges (Cheers and applause), the Genius Mike Myers, the Incredible Cast, Lorne Michaels, the Whole Crew, Eva and Ezzy, I Love You, Thank You So Much". (Cheers and applause again)
