The 5th episode of Season 6 and the 111th episode of Saturday Night Live, hosted by actor, director and musician David Carradine, star of the hit films Young Billy Young, The McMasters, Macho Callahan, Boxcar Bertha, You and Me, Death Race 2000, Cannonball, Bound for Glory, Thunder and Lightning, The Serpent's Egg, Gray Lady Down, Deathsport, Circle of Iron, Fast Charlie... the Moonbeam Rider, The Long Riders, Cloud Dancer, Safari 3000, Americana, Q, Trick Or Treats, Lone Wolf McQuade, The Warrior and the Sorceress, P.O.W. The Escape, Armed Response, The Misfit Brigade, Run for Your Life, Tropical Snow, Warlords, and Wizards of the Lost Kingdom II, with musical guests Linda Ronstadt and the cast of The Pirates of Penzance. It premiered on December 20, 1980. This is the only hosting stint for David Carradine and Linda Ronstadt's 2nd musical guest appearance was made on SNL. This is also the only musical guest appearance on SNL for the Pirates of Penzance. This episode was the last for uncredited contributor Mitchell Kriegman, who was fired during the break.[1]
First episode for Yvonne Hudson, who joins the cast as a featured player, and is the show's first African-American female cast member.
