The 712th episode and 10th episode of Season 37 of Saturday Night Live premiered on December 17, 2011, hosted by longtime former cast member and Weekend Update co-anchor Jimmy Fallon, the host of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, with the classical/jazz singer Michael Bublé as the musical guest, who performed "Holly Jolly Christmas" and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and also appeared briefly in the opening monologue and during the pre-recorded "Michael Bublé Christmas Duets" sketch. Michael Bublé made his 2nd musical guest stint on SNL, and this is Jimmy Fallon's first-time hosting.

This episode fulfilled a prediction made in the December 12, 1998 monologue that then-castmember Jimmy Fallon would host the show in 2011.

Michael Bublé previously made his musical guest debut on January 30, 2010, the thirteenth episode of SNL's 35th season, hosted by actor Jon Hamm, star of AMC's classic period drama series Mad Men.
