The 93rd episode of Saturday Night Live and the 7th episode of Season 5, hosted by actor Martin Sheen with English musician, singer and songwriter David Bowie as the musical. Special guests are Joey Arias and Klaus Nomi. They appeared as backup singers. It premiered on December 15, 1979. David Bowie's musical guest debut was made on SNL, and this is the only time hosting for Martin Sheen.

This was Al Franken's first episode as a credited featured pkayer.
