The 977th episode and 9th episode of Saturday Night Live's 50th season premiered on December 14, 2024, hosted by former cast member Chris Rock, star of the hit films Dogma, CB4, Nurse Betty, Pootie Tang, Bad Company, 2 Days in New York, Dr. Dolittle, The Longest Yard, Down to Earth, Grown Ups, and the 2013 sequel Grown Ups 2, Death at a Funeral, Head of State, I Think I Love My Wife, What to Expect When You're Expecting, Top Five, The Witches, The Week Of, Dolemite Is My Name, Spiral: From the Book of Saw, Amsterdam, and Rustin and the animated films Osmosis Jones and DreamWorks Animation's hit films Bee Movie, and Madagascar and the two sequels Madagascar: Return 2 Africa and Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, and five of his stand-up comedy specials Bigger & Blacker, Never Scared, Kill the Messenger, Chris Rock: Tamborine and Chris Rock: Selective Outrage, and the creator, executive producer and voice of the Narrator of the Comedy Central's animated sitcom Everybody Still Hates Chris, with musical guest Gracie Abrams, an singer-songwriter. This is Chris Rock's 4th time as host and the musical guest debut for Gracie Abrams was made on SNL.

Rock previously hosted SNL on the following dates: On November 2, 1996, the fifth episode and last pre-U.S. Presidential Election episode of SNL's 22nd season, with musical guests The Wallflowers, on November 1, 2014, the fifth episode of SNL's 40th season, with musical guest Prince and on October 3, 2020, which is the Season 46 premiere, with musical guest Megan Thee Stallion; which coincidentally, was the first episode for current cast members Andrew Dismukes and Punkie Johnson.

Goodbyes and Closing Credits   Gracie Abrams, Adam Sandler, the whole cast and everybody were all thanked by Chris Rock for bringing him back home, it was the best week.
