The 897th episode and 8th episode of Saturday Night Live's 46th season premiered on December 12, 2020, hosted by American and French actor Timothée Chalamet, star of the hit films One & Two, Love the Coopers, Muss Stevens, Call Me by Your Name, Interstellar, Lady Bird, Little Women, Beautiful Boy, Dune and the sequel Dune: Part Two, and Bones and All, with musical guests Bruce Springsteen and The E-Street Band. This was Timothée Chalamet's SNL (and hosting) debut.

This is also Bruce Springsteen's 4th musical guest appearance and the E-Street Band's 3rd musical guest stint on SNL.

The last time Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band were the musical guests was on December 19, 2015, the ninth episode and the Christmas show of SNL's 41st season, hosted by longtime former cast members and Weekend Update anchors Tina Fey & Amy Poehler.
