The 8th episode of Season 41 and the 795th episode of Saturday Night Live premiered on December 12, 2015, hosted by Australian actor Chris Hemsworth, star of Marvel Studios superhero films The Avengers, Thor and the sequels Thor Ragnarok and Thor: Love & Thunder, as well as the hit films Star Trek, Snow White and the Huntsman, and its sequel The Huntsman: Winter's War, Red Dawn, Blackhat, Men in Black: International, Extraction and its sequel Extraction 2, A Perfect Getaway, The Cabin in the Woods, Rush and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, with musical guest Chance The Rapper, who sang along with Jeremih and Jamilia Woods. Hemsworth previously hosted SNL on the March 7, 2015 episode, the fifteenth episode of SNL's 40th season, with musical guests Zac Brown Band. Chris Hemsworth made his 2nd time as the host, and this is also the musical guest debut on SNL for Chance The Rapper.
Longtime former cast member Will Ferrell appeared as George H. W. Bush in the cold open.
