The 689th episode and the 9th episode of Saturday Night Live's 36th season premiered on December 11, 2010, hosted by actor Paul Rudd, star of the hit films Dinner for Schmucks, I Love You, Man, Role Models, They Came Together, Prince Avalanche, All Is Bright This is 40, They Came Together, Mute, The Little Prince, Admission, They Came Together, The Fundamentals of Caring, and the Marvel Studios films Captain America: Civil War, and Avengers: Endgame, Ant-Man, and the two sequels Ant-Man and the Wasp and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, with former Beatle and English music legend Paul McCartney as the musical guest. This is Paul Rudd's 2nd time as host and the 3rd musical guest appearance for Paul McCartney and his first appearance in 17 years on SNL.
The last time Paul McCartney was the musical guest back on the February 13, 1993 episode, the thirteenth episode of Season 18, hosted by actor Alec Baldwin.
