David Paterson (born May 20, 1954) is an American politician who served as the 55th Governor of New York from 2008 to 2010, becoming the first African American governor of New York and also the who is second legally blind.

On Saturday Night Live, he has been impersonated by Fred Armisen ten times from December 13, 2008 to May 18, 2013, all during the Weekend Update segment (although the January 15, 2011 one was during the "Spitzer Auditions" sketch), where Paterson himself made a cameo on September 25, 2010 alongside Armisen's impression.
