Cecily Legler Strong (born February 8, 1984) is an American actress and comedienne who is currently a cast member of Saturday Night Live, starting in September 2012. Raised in Oak Park, IL, Strong graduated from the Chicago Academy for the Arts. Strong attended California Institute for the Arts graduating with a BFA in theater. After college, she received training and experience working with The Groundlings, Second City, and Improv Olympic. 

Prior to the start of season 39, it was announced that she would become coanchor of Weekend Update, beside existing anchor Seth Meyers, who was slated to leave the show around Christmas break of that season. Colin Jost premiered on Weekend Update on March 1, 2014.[1] Strong has been romantically linked to writer and former-cast member Mike O'Brien.[2]

She is set to star in the upcoming Apple TV+ series, Schmigadoon!, which premiered on July 16, 2021.

Trivia[]

  • The dog seen with her during the Season 40's opening credits (also used for Season 41 and Season 42) is actually her dog Lucy. Her original credits for Season 43 did not include Lucy, but she was added back in later episodes.
  • She hosted the White House Correspondents Dinner in 2015.
  • A home video of her at age 13 was shown during one of the SNL Mothers Day monologues.
  • Her mother appeared on the SNL Mothers Day monologue 2015.
  • A new opening credits sequence for announcing the actors was taped before season 44. During the premiere episode, the announcement of Cecily Strong's name was accidentally omitted, her "cast clip" was silently shown, and then followed by the announcement of "Kyle Mooney", however this error was fixed by the next episode.
