The 926th episode and 17th episode of Saturday Night Live's 47th season premiered on April 9, 2022, hosted by actor Jake Gyllenhaal, star of the hit films, Brokeback Mountain, Zodiac, Brothers, Prisoners, Enemy, Love & Other Drugs, Nightcrawler, Source Code, Nocturnal Animals, the Marvel Cinematic Universe hit superhero film Spider-Man: Far From Home, Wildlife, Velvet Buzzsaw, The Guilty, Ambulance, and Road House and Disney's hit animated film Strange World, with Cuban-born singer Camila Cabello as the musical guest. This is Jake Gyllenhaal's 2nd time as the host, and his first appearance in 15 years, 2 months, and 27 days. (Gyllenhaal last hosted SNL back on the January 13, 2007 episode), the tenth episode and first show of New Year 2007 of SNL's 32nd season, with musical guests The Shins, an indie rock band.

Camila Cabello previously made her musical guest (and SNL) debut on October 12, 2019, the third episode of SNL's 45th season, hosted by actor David Harbour, star of Netflix's science fiction horror drama series Stranger Things; which marked the returned of current cast member Pete Davidson. This is also her 2nd appearance as the musical guest on SNL.

The goodnight speech for Jake Gyllenhaal is "Thanks to Camilla Cabello, Willow Smith, (Cheers and applause), the Whole Cast of SNL, Thank You All, Go Out Try Live Your Life and Enjoy, Have a Wonderful Night, Thank You So Much". (Cheers and applause again).
