The 825th episode and 17th episode of Saturday Night Live's 42nd season premiered on April 8, 2017, and was hosted by stand-up comedian and actor Louis C.K., star of Louie and the hit animated film Secret Life of Pets with EDM duo The Chainsmokers, who performed "Paris" with Emily Warren and "Break Up Every Night", as the musical guest. Alec Baldwin appeared as Donald Trump in both the cold open and the O'Reilly Factor sketch, where he also impersonated host Bill O'Reilly. This is Louis C.K.'s 4th time as host and the musical guest debut on SNL for the EDM duo, The Chainsmokers.

Louis C.K.'s goodnights speech is "I Just Wanna Say Don Rickles was the Funniest Man in the World and He Was Also a Lovely Beautiful Guy, I'll Miss Him for the Rest of My Life, and I Want to Thank The Chainsmokers, [everyone laughing], (Cheers and applause), and I Want to Thank Alec Baldwin, and the Cast and Everybody, Thank You Very Much, Good Night!."
