The 741st episode and 17th episode of Saturday Night Live's 38th season, hosted by actress Melissa McCarthy, star of the CBS' hit sitcom Mike & Molly and the hit films Bridesmaids, Identity Thief, The Heat, Tammy, St. Vincent, Spy, The Boss, Life of the Party, The Happytime Murders, Can You Ever Forgive Me?, The Kitchen, Superintelligence, Thunder Force, and Genie and Disney's live-action musical romantic fantasy film The Little Mermaid and the musical guest was Phoenix, a French pop rock band, who performed "Entertainment" and a medley of "Trying to Be Cool" and "Drakkar Noir". It premiered on April 6, 2013. This is Melissa McCarthy's 2nd time hosting and the 2nd musical guest stint on SNL for Phoenix.

Melissa McCarthy's goodnights speech is "I want to say Thanks to Phoenix, Dennis Rodman, Peter Dinklage! Thank you, New York! Thank you, SNL! I had the time of my life!!". (Cheers and applause)
