The 18th episode of Season 8 and the 157th episode of Saturday Night Live premiered on April 16, 1983, hosted by actress Susan Saint James, star of the NBC's classic police procedural series McMillan & Wife and the CBS' hit classic sitcom Kate & Allie, with musical guest Michael McDonald, a blue-eyed soul singer, keyboardist and songwriter. Susan Saint James made her 2nd and final hosting stint, and this is also the 2nd and final musical guest appearance for Michael McDonald on SNL, as well as his only time as the solo musical guest.
