The 847th episode and 18th episode of Saturday Night Live's 43rd season premiered on April 14, 2018, hosted by former SNL writer, writing supervisor and producer, stand-up comedian and actor John Mulaney, with musical guest Jack White. This is the first time that John Mulaney hosted, as well as his hosting debut and Jack White made his 3rd musical guest stint and his 2nd solo musical guest appearance on SNL.
The goodnights speech for John Mulaney is in the following: "My Thanks to Jack White, Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, (Cheers and applause), And to All the Writers, All the Set Designers, All the Carpenters, All the Editors, All the Directors, All the Departments That, Along with This Great Cast, Put "Saturday Night Live" Together. - Announcer Darrell Hammond mispronounces Mulaney's name as "John Mulvaney" during the introductions. This was fixed in reruns and online.
- Mulaney is also the fourth former SNL writer to come back to host, after Conan O'Brien (one in 2001), Louis C.K. (four since 2012), and Larry David (twice since 2016).
