The seventeenth episode of Season 16 and the 303rd episode of Saturday Night Live premiered on April 13, 1991. It was hosted by Canadian-American actress, comedian and former SCTV cast member Catherine O'Hara, star of the 1990 Christmas comedy film, Home Alone, with folk rock band R.E.M. as the musical guest. Carole King sits in with the SNL Band. This is Catherine O'Hara's hosting debut, thus making her the fourth and final SCTV cast member to host, and R.E.M. made their musical guest debut on SNL.
