Adam McKay (b. 17 April 1968) is an American writer. He joined the writing staff of SNL in 1995, and served as head writer of Saturday Night Live for seasons 22 - 24, and stayed as a writer on the show until 2001. After leaving SNL, he partnered with Will Ferrell to write and direct a string of movies starring Ferrell, including Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004), Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006), Step Brothers (2008), The Other Guys (2010), and Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (2013).
For Vice (2018), a biographical film about former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney, McKay received Academy Award nominations for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay.
